A Classical Concert for the Cocogreen Community
Over the summer, Cocogreen hosted 500 members of its team and wider community who came together to enjoy a very special performance from Sri Lankan music legend Sunil Edirisinghe.
The four-hour concert program was held at The North Western Provincial Council Auditorium in Kurunegala, and was attended by Cocogreen employees and their families, alongside local suppliers and guests who work with and support the business.
Mr Edirisinghe and Madur – a well-know classical music group – entertained guests with well-known renditions from his back-catalogue, interspersed with stories about the songs and his life.
An extra special part of the evening was the chance for certain audience members to take the stage and lend their voices to Sunil’s band for some selected songs. Talented singers from the Cocogreen team, along with their families, were invited to audition for the chance to sing with the band, split into categories for men, women and families.
Members of the ladies’ team Dilshani Fernando and Daneshi Fernando wowed colleagues and guests with a rendition that fit right in with the evening’s musical ensemble.
Another point in the evening saw Chathura Chandimal and Chathura Pemachandra from the men’s team join together for a duet, while finally, the employees’ family team of Dr Sajitha Danapala and Mr Dewaka Amarasekara came together in song.
Singers were presented with congratulatory gifts for their achievement.
The concert experience is a part of Cocogreen’s ongoing employee engagement activity; a chance to celebrate colleagues’ contributions to the business and provide moments that benefit local Sri Lankan communities.
Attendees were thrilled for the chance to see a high-profile artist in an intimate setting. Mrs Wanduragala, a lawyer from Kurunegala who works closely with Cocogreen called the event “a simply wonderful evening aand the perfect antidote to the hectic working week.” Meanwhile Dr Dissanayoke, from a local hospital expressed his gratification for the opportunity, remarking that “the emotions and connections to the songs are truly amazing.”
Guests also enjoyed catering and joining in with the lighting of traditional oil lamps to mark the celebration.
